The Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance invites you to join us for a Webinar, “Program Flexibility, Career Pathways, and Improving Employment Outcomes for TANF Participants” on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM (Eastern).

This facilitated webinar will explore the promise and potential of career pathways practices tailored for TANF participants and other low-income, low-skilled individuals and those with barriers to employment. Recommendations for re-considering career pathways models within TANF programs and strategies for utilizing current flexibility and regulatory framework will be presented. Additionally, current TANF program representatives will highlight how they have taken advantage of regulatory opportunities under TANF to implement career pathways programming and provide frontline recommendations for navigating the TANF program’s rules, while strengthening the employment opportunities of participants.  Specific topics include bridging education/training, understanding local labor needs, integrating career pathways in program components, federal career pathways initiatives and funding streams, and strategies for building and sustaining improved career prospects for hard-to-employ individuals.


Participants will:

1. Obtain information on TANF rules and regulations that provide flexibility for the implementation of career pathways-based programming.

2. Obtain innovative and promising career pathways initiatives and bridge programs, including insights on strategies for developing career pathways that make use of the administrative flexibility provided within the TANF program.

3. Obtain an outline of career pathways implementation opportunities/strategies that are within the boundaries of TANF rules and regulations.
